Our Initial Teacher Training (ITT) curriculum develops the very best classroom practitioners who will inspire, influence and shape the lives of generations for years to come. Our trainees are skilled and inspirational specialist collaborators, confident and reflective practitioners, effective communicators, evidence and research informed intellectuals and resilient professionals who demonstrate high standards.
At Barr Beacon SCITT we know what it takes to make a great teacher. We offer an extremely well structured and sequenced training, mentoring and professional development programme. This prepares our trainees well for all aspects of a fulfilling and rewarding career in teaching. Upon successful completion of our programme, you’ll be recommended for QTS and gain a PGCE with up to 60 masters credits through the University of Worcester.

Growing Our Own
At Barr Beacon SCITT, we believe in the power of nurturing talent from within our organisation. Our “Growing Our Own” initiative is designed to develop exceptional teachers who are deeply connected to our local partnership schools and communities. This approach reflects our commitment to cultivating talent that is aligned with our educational values and needs. The success of our approach is shown by our superb employment rates. From our 2023/2024 cohort, 96% of trainees were successful in gaining a position as an Early Career Teacher (ECT), with 78% of trainees successfully gaining an ECT position in schools within our SCITT partnership.
We’re rightly proud of the fact that the vast majority of trainees who train with us stay with us and join schools within our partnership or the local area.
